Assertiveness Support Group - Overcoming the "Nice" Syndrome

  • Do you regret not saying what you really feel?
  • Do you feel guilty when you say no?
  • Do you feel like you have to say yes to be accepted?
  • Do you feel confident expressing yourself?
  • Do you suffer from terminal niceness?

An assertive person is able to honestly express herself and can therefore say no without feeling guilty. Assertiveness is about being able to say no, having your boundaries and limits respected, getting your needs met and keeping yourself safe. It will help you achieve your goals.

It isn't always right to be nice. A commitment to niceness can compromise our integrity. Integrity is the very essence of our spirit self, so when we are nice instead of honest we sometimes betray ourselves.

During this group, you will learn to dissect the beliefs and emotions that cause you to be "nice." You will learn to express yourself confidently and honestly without violating the rights or feelings of others. You will learn to express your thoughts and feelings in a way that clearly states your needs and keeps the line of communication open with others.
