Fed up with Food Mission Statement:

“The purpose of ‘Fed up with Food’ is to provide a network of support for students suffering form eating problems.  We are dedicated to offering mutual support, reducing the sense of isolation, and providing encouragement on the road to recovery.  We believe that through positive modeling of recovered students, a structured group that focuses on emotions, successes, and learning to yield to a higher power, we can foster an environment of hope and progress.”

Fed up with Food Requirements:

The group consists of 12 sessions occurring weekly and is scheduled in the evening for an hour and a half. Mentors and participants meet in pairs for an hour each week at a convenient time.  The Fed up with Food group is based loosely on the 12 Steps program which views eating disorders as addictions.  The purpose of the support group is to find healthy coping mechanisms and change destructive thought patterns while providing a support system.

To Participate:

-Call WSR at 422-4877 and set up an intake appointment with a group leader or co-leader. (Both Mentors and Participants)

-Those volunteering as mentors must be considered recovered from an eating disorder and committed to attend weekly group sessions, bimonthly mentor meetings, and individual meetings with participants.

-Those joining the group as a participant are individuals currently struggling with an eating disorder and agree to attend weekly group sessions and individual meetings with their mentor.
